Work hard, play hard

Friday we enjoyed a night out with some of our good friends. It was a nice end to a long, but good, week. I always have a good time hangin’ with my friend/ co-worker Ashley (AO). I can’t believe Iv’e known her for 3 years now! Time flies!

I saw a poster than brings back floods of memories from when Tim and I first started dating. Lots of fun nights spent together listening to this band.

Today we met a few friends at the gym and did a nasty quadruple WOD session. We did:

6-6-4-4-2-2

Bent knee good mornings (95, 105, 115, 120, 135, 145)

Ring Dips

Accessory movements:

GHR partner assisted 2 x 12

Hip extensions 1 x 30

Standing db throwbacks 3 x 12 @ 30#

rest 5 minutes

12 minute AMRAP

150m sprint

5 deadlifts @ 115#

5 goblet squats @ 30#

3 CTG push-ups

(completed 9 rounds plus 75m run)

rest 5 minutes

Chest to bar pull-up ladder

2-2-4-5-4… Then I stopped. Healing a pulled muscle in my back… I don’t want to go backwards!

rest 5 minutes

3 minute AMRAP

Burpee

Russian KB swing @ 53#

1, 1, 2, 2, 3, 3 and do on. I think I was on my 8th round but I think I might have counted a round twice on accident…

FINISHED!

Time for an ice bath! It hurts so good!

I met my Dad for lunch at Cafe Andimo today. He hadn’t tried their Paleo menu so I thought it would be a nice Father’s Day treat. It was great to spend time with him! Always great stimulating conversation.

Of course I had to pick up a CocoBee Bar for a little treat. Check out these clean ingredients! YUM! Locally made by some great people.

Oh and one of the best parts of the day? Caroline (my little sis) is getting her Level 1 in September (along with another kick-ass group of SEVEN people from CrossFit Instinct)! Yay! I am so excited for her (and all of them)! What a great experience they will all have. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous!

Full time and fun times

This week was my first week going full time at comso school. I actually like it more than I thought I would. I put in 35 hours this week and it felt wonderful! Normally I would get around 15. Graduation here I come! I am a lot less busy now- more people come in the evenings and weekends to get their hair done than mornings and daytime during the week. This has given me a lot of time to catch up on working on my mannequin. I’m finally getting faster and better at my finger waves. I love these. So beautiful.

I was also given the opportunity to go to a shellac class where we learned design shellac- in about two weeks I will be able to do it on clients! It’s so wonderful to have polish that lasts.

I have been working out at 6am before school which I have also really been enjoying. It feels great to have my workout done so early. We were supposed to walk on parallel bars with dips at the end. We do not have any parallel bars so we had to come up with our own substitute.

Friday night Tim and I went out for a few drinks with a few friends. Check out my hot date. ;)

Found out I do not like green olive martinis. Blech.

Now on to get ready for a 20 mile bike ride with some fellow CrossFitters. Great start to a gorgeous Sunday!

Regionals in a nutshell

Well… one of the most exciting weekends of the year is over! What a great weekend it was. We went to McCook, Il to watch Tim and several other CrossFitters compete in the CrossFit Games Regionals. We went up on Thursday night with mister Matthew Bryant (<– follow his blog!) to prepare for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here are some photos from our trip:

I had to buy some things to help cheer… I got too excited when Tim was up for “Diane” and broke my big clapping hand. :(

We went to Prasino for dinner. GREAT (and green) food!

Organic Jasmine Lemontini!

Avocado Lobster appetizer…. a tiny ($16) piece of heaven!

My salad. Tasty. Fresh. Crisp. Mmm.

I love my boys.

Becky brought me a surprise… bacon dark chocolate! I know what I am opening up for dessert tonight! YUM-O!

Isn’t he cute? :)

Shrimp kabob and salad from a Mediterranean grill

Got the itch to WOD so a group of us went outside for a run/burpee/air squat WOD. Sharp grass = painful skin!

Prasino again for dinner on Saturday. Don’t remember the name of this cocktail but it tasted like Christmas!

I asked for a Captain and diet coke- nope. They had “organic cola” they could use instead.

Delish dinner besides that red pepper. VERY hot!

Great trip with great people. Can’t wait for next year (hopefully I’ll be blogging from the competitor’s view)!
